Jety-Oguz gorge
In translation, seven bulls, so named because of the wall of red sandstone rocks, blocking the entrance to the gorge. According to legend, one of the local rulers stole a young wife from another. And he offered him a ransom of seven bulls. The enraged husband wanted to take revenge on the offender. During the transfer of animals, he drew a knife and thrust it into his wife’s heart. The gushing blood flooded the bulls and both rulers, turning them into rocks. One of the rocks at the entrance to the canyon is split in two and is called “Broken Heart”. In the valley there is a sanatorium with thermal mineral water. One of the most beautiful peaks of the Tien Shan is located in the upper reaches of the Oguz-Bashi (Bull’s Head) gorge. Above the slope overgrown with fir trees, the pyramid of Armstrong Peak effectively rises as an ice obelisk.
